Modena city of northern Italy, Emilia-Romagna province, the capital of the province of Modena, a population of 179.937 inhabitants. It was the capital since 1598 and for several centuries the Duchy of Modena and Reggio family of Estee (up to join the Kingdom of Italy in 1859).
